Happy New Year!

I for one adore January.

The year stretches ahead of you full of possibilities.

We are of course much quieter over the winter months, which gives me time to ponder new recipes, take long walks with the dachshund’s ( who to be honest aren’t that keen) read, and be cosy in front of the fire , and plan any decorating ideas I have in mind.

We already have many bookings for the forthcoming opera season , which we are truly delighted about.

We are looking forward to welcoming back guests who have been coming for years , and new ones of course who have heard about the Broadacres hospitality.

We had a truly fun night at the beginning of December, with the whole team together here for champagne, canapés , and a few party games , it was an absolute blast and it is now firmly in the calendar as an annual event.

I’ve also learnt (thank you Tom Parker Bowles ) how to cook the perfect poached egg . I know this seems rather trivial , but those of you who have been coming for years know the mere thought of being asked for a poached egg would bring me out in hives , and something to avoid. So for the past week I have been practicing and practicing, and even Harry my eldest is eating them quite happily with a bagel for breakfast. This is no mean feat as it would have been impossible to get him to eat an egg prior to this. However he will have to go back to cornflakes of a school morning I think.

I wish everyone a happy, safe and fun 2025 and hopefully see you sometime this year .

Best wishes

Jo x
